Gateways

What is a Gateway?

A gateway is the delivery service that actually sends your messages. Think of it like choosing between postal carriers — eCourtDate prepares the letter, and the gateway is the service that delivers it. By default, eCourtDate handles message delivery for you. However, some agencies prefer to connect their own email server or SMS provider for compliance, cost, or control reasons. Gateways make that possible.

Overview

Gateways are the integration points in eCourtDate that enable message delivery through different communication channels. They connect your existing communication infrastructure to the eCourtDate platform, allowing you to send notifications via email, SMS, voice, or custom messaging providers.

Gateways are configured in the eCourtDate Console and determine how outbound messages are routed and delivered.

Gateway Types

eCourtDate supports three types of gateways:

SMTP Gateway

Send email notifications through your own mail server or a third-party SMTP provider. This allows you to maintain control over your email infrastructure and sending reputation.

Twilio Gateway

Deliver SMS and voice messages through your own Twilio account. This is ideal for agencies that already have Twilio accounts with approved phone numbers.

Custom Gateway

Integrate with any messaging provider using a webhook-based pattern. eCourtDate sends message details to your endpoint, and your gateway handles delivery through the provider of your choice.
